This quarter in 4th grade, we're continuing to work on the notes BAG for the first 4 weeks while we practice an Orff arrangement using recorders and xylophones. We are also just learning to read the notes in the treble clef staff, so students will be composing their very own recorder melody on the treble clef staff which we will then perform for each other. During weeks 5-10 we're going to shift our focus to the note E on recorder. We will be learning songs using E and performing Orff arrangements that include xylophones and recorders. During the last five weeks we are also going expand our solfege range to a full octave, and will be extending our singing range. By the end of the quarter, fourth graders will be the master of four notes on the recorders and ready to take on more difficult musical challenges in fifth grade!
